IndiZOO: Giant African Millipedes

by Admin

The Lincoln Children’s Zoo is joining Indigo Bridge Books for IndiZOO, a monthly story time that gives children the opportunity to connect with unique animals. The next IndiZOO will take place on Friday, March 9th from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

This month, IndiZOO will present a glamorous group of Giant African Millipedes. Giant African Millipedes are unique arthropods with many legs. They are native to the rainforests of Western Africa and live in habitats that include underbrush and rocks where they eat fruit and leaves.

Children will learn about the Giant African Millipede’s life through stories and a shared learning time with Stephy from the Lincoln Children’s Zoo. Children are welcome to ask questions and interact with the millipedes. After the presentation, children will make a millipede-themed craft they can take home to remember their experience.

All IndiZOO events are held on the second Friday of each month at Indigo Bridge Books, which is located in Lincoln’s Haymarket on the first floor of The Creamery Building (701 ‘P’ Street).
