In an age of mounting (and more abstract) environmental threats, Thinking Continental asks the question "What is local, really?" This anthology of essays, fiction, and poetry focuses on “thinking continental”—connecting local and personal landscapes to universal systems and processes—to articulate the concept of a global or planetary citizenship. If we are to confront global issues, we must think of ourselves as global citizens and our homes connected to the broader world. This evening we'll be hosting co-editor and UNL english professor Tom Lynch, poet laureate Twyla Hansen, author Elizabeth Dodd, poet Marjorie Saiser, and UNO geologist Harmon Maher as they read from the collection. Discussion and signing to follow.
