Its a nearly-deserted wasteland unlike any other on Earth- home to a pack of gruesome giants. But the Big Friendly Giant separates himself from the others and joins Sophie, a little orphan from London, on a quest to rid the world of mysterious disappearances.
My son and I read this book over and over again. We can’t get enough of it. It’s super silly with all the made up words (something that Roald Dahl has a knack for) spoken by a giant who’s taught himself a version of English. This also makes the novel a wonderfully hilarious read-aloud for those who like to do voices. Dahl’s quirky and exciting adventure pairs perfectly with the illustrations of Quentin Blake peppered throughout giving light to just how enormous the BFG’s ears actually are.
